When
he comes face to face with this apparition in an airy dress, a flash of lightning
strikes... a naked tree. Then the tears of so-called Anastasia ("Resurrection")
bring rain out of the blue. And at midnight a spark from her twinkling eye turns
into a shooting star. Before the first and last kiss of the creator and his beautiful
creature lights a tongue of fire on the frozen Neva... .

down the long sheet of snow covering the city's canals...
